Welcome to Louise Charles

THE WRITER

I am an apprentice writer and deep in my heart know I always will be. And to coin a clichéd phrase, I hope my journey never ends.
Under the name of Louise Charles I write fiction - I  completed my first novel in 2009 - following a gestation of about 3 years. I have tried to place it without success and having completed a second fear I might need to revisit it and probably rewrite. I am currently editing the second. Both of these are kind of historical romances set in the Second World War, a of favourite period of  time for me. I'm not sure why, I think that somehow the future owes that time a memory. My grandchildren need to know why they are still here. I am planning a third which is set in Saxon times in a place I know well, Shaftesbury Abbey. I am also penning a contemporary,  light hearted tale with 'Charles' also known as my Man Friday .Following a move to Italy I craved for the friendship of a writing group and have since set up a writing community for ex-pat writers - Writers Abroad.

As freelance writer I have had a number of non-fiction articles published in a wide range of magazines, including my trade, writing journals. A great honour to be published in something you use to develop your craft.   I also edit two international health journals for Emerald Publishing.

I live in Le Marche, central rural Italy with my  Man Friday - Simon, Bertie - a very large Italian sheepdog, our three hens known collectively as the 3 Degrees and a number of community cats.
